Tea Olive Tree

We have some Tea Olive plants that have been in the ground for about 10 - 12 years and are around 12-15 foot tall. I need to cut them back off the house and below the bay window. This will require me to remove about half of the plant. At this level there are branches around 1 inch to 2 inches in diameter. I understand that the plant will look bald but my biggest concern is damaging the plant. If remove half the plant what is the risk of it not growing new growth?
