Question About Bridal Wreath Spirea

Filed Under: Shrubs · Keywords: My, Up, Grow · 479 Views
In previous years I had mistakenly trimmed the spirea at the end of the summer into a round shape and they did not bloom for a couple of years. last year I just let them go and they have incredible blooms. These blooms are now fading. I do not want these bushes to become overgrown and I am wondering if I can trim them right now right after the blooms fade, into a round bush again, without losing next years blooms.

I have the same bush and I trim it nicely right after it finishes blooming and the blossoms become brown. It blooms faithfully every year. Good luck!

I found out last year that you can cut down spirea in half after the leaves fall in the fall. I did that to all of my spirea bushes and they did well this year. You really should not leave it alone every year as it will develop too much wood and no blossoms.
