Answer #1 · Maple Tree's Answer · Hi Curvi-This is one of the larger bamboos and would be hard to grow in containers. This bamboo develops a large root mass and needs at least a growing area of approximately 30 feet in diameter for healthy growth and development of new shoots. Digging it up and dividing it so as to keep its clump smaller would take a lot of work every couple of years. It has been grown in pots in commercial landscapes but the containers were extremely large and heavy. These would most likely be too large to handle for use around a home. This bamboo is capable of growing an average height of 40 feet with canes as large as 4 inches in diameter.
