Maple Tree's Answer · Hi Lou-As far as I know the fungi Chrysomyxa arctostaphyli has four spore stages that only affect spruce and the Kinnikinnik (Bearberry) ground cover as host plants. There are many types of fungal infections and most are specific to a particular plant. From doing some research I don't believe the same rust you had on your Kinnikinnik would infect the Vinca Minor. There are other close relatives to the Kinnikinnik that may be susceptable to the desease but the vinca is not one of them. You may want to check with your local Cooperative Extension Service also for information they may have.
Please ask if you have any other questions.
