Maple Tree's Answer · Hi Larry-You can fertilize newly planted Knock Out Roses with a mild, natural plant food such as fish emulsion, cottonseed meal, or Osmocote. Fertilize in early spring when the new growth begins to emerge and then about every 4 to 6 weeks throughout the season. Established roses can be fertilized with a fertilizer specifically formulated for roses (Rose Food) or an organic fertlizer. In zone 8 you would stop fertilizing your roses about two months before the first frost date. I noted a link below to an article that will help you with the fertilizing and watering of you roses.
