Hi Roger-If you can answer a few questions it would help in giving you a list of plants that would work well for you. How small an area are you planting? Are you looking mainly for flowering annuals, ground covers, shrubs or a combination of these? Is the area in full sun, part sun, or shade during the day? If in the sun at what times during the day is the area in direct sunlight? Do you know your hardiness zone? If not five me your city and state and I can look it up. The hardiness zone will help in knowing what plants will survive in your location. Would you say the area is always moist or more wet possibly boggy most of the time? Is this planter always moist because of the soil possibly being clay or is the planter not draining because the water has no where to go? I'm wondering if the drainage problem can be made better so more plants could be used. After answering these questions we will get back to you with some plants you may be interested in. John

Are you looking for annual bedding plants that produce flowers? If so, there just aren't that many varieties that will tolerate constantly wet soil. On the other hand, there are quite a few flowering and foliage perennial plants that would work well in poor draining soil. Let me know and, also, as John asked about, let us know your USDA Zone and how much sun the plants will get.
