Can Weed Seed Preventer Be Used Every Year In The Same Flower And Shrub Beds?

I used a weed seed preventer called Amaze last spring in my flower/shrub beds and it worked very well. Do you think it's ok to keep using it on a yearly basis? I am concerned about possible soil damage. Thank you! Diana

Answer #1 · Maple Tree's Answer · Hi Diana-I have used the Amaze Grass & Weed Preventer for years now on large hillside areas of Asian Jasmine ground cover and many ornamental plants. It has always done a great job as a preemergent herbicide for annual grasses and broadleaf weeds. I believe the bag states a second application can be applied in 4 to 6 months. I have never needed to apply a second application in all the years I have used this product. I apply it in late winter/early spring before any germination of weed seeds. This product will not kill or control grasses or broadleaf weeds that are existing. Using the Amaze has done so well that there are only a few weeds I normally have to pull or spot kill before application. The Amaze can definitely be used every year without any harmful affects to the soil. It is noted on the container not to do any new planting soon after application. If you need to plant any new plants soon after application be sure to backfill around the plant with new soil that has not been treated with the Amaze. Be sure to water in well immediately after application to dissolve the granules.

Hope this has helped. Let me know if you have any other questions.

John)
