Gardenality.com's Answer · Hi Ann Marie - All crape myrtle flower heavier the more sun they get. That being said, a little shade for a short period of time during the day shouldn't effect flowering too much. The more shade the less flowers. Of all the crape myrtle I'm familiar with here's a list of the one's that would have a maximum height of around 8 feet. All of these should do fine in South Carolina.
