Plant dinosaur kale in well drained soil in either a container or directly into your garden beds. Kale is remarkably indifferent to soil type and seems to thrive even in even heavy clay soil. Dinosaur kale prefers full sun, but I've planted them in a considerable amount of shade and they did remarkably well.

Share Your GardeninHeavy fertilizing is NOT preferred by Dinosaur kale. I didn't fertilize any of my kale plants last year and they did fantastic all season.

If the plant starts to bud at any time during the year snip the flower stems off and cook them like you do broccoli. DELICIOUS! Kale is an annual so when you decide the plant is “done" cut it off at the base. Sometimes it might resprout.
